Bali Fun Times!

September was all about Fun! I booked a trip to Bali with my girlfriend (Marlies). She had never been outside of Europe before so where else than Bali she had to go first!

After 2 surf trips to right handers (Mexico and South Africa) I was so keen to surf lefts you cannot imagine (or maybe you do). It was about 3 years I hadn’t been to Bali and it was very nice to be back!

Spots like Uluwata where overcrowded but Balangan was just ok. I was lucky to score 2 bigger swells and clocked some nice greenroom time.

South Africa 2010

Only 2 Weeks after the Fifa World Cup left the place  we where heading to South Africa. The magic J-Bay was waiting for us. Robin and O’Neill fixed us a 14day trip to this magical surfing destination.  The flight was a bit longer than expected with a 24hour delay at Brussels airport due to some mechanical problems with the airplane. But those things happen we you travel…

We scored 1 bigger swell at the bay and I saw some people riding epic barrels! But I didn’t … I hate crowds and crowd there was! I counted about 87 people out in the water … left the perfect right hander for what it was, and scored some small left funky closeouts on the beach.

Very cool was the 116m bunji bridge (the highest one in the world). I’m still enjoying the feeling of free falling in the air!

NYC

Gallery

The road to Mexico was like this: Brussels -> New York -> Mexico City -> Huatulco. In New York we had about 10 hours of transit so we decided to visit NYC. We took the metro in the airport building and 35min. later we were downtown!

Jan Bijl took some great city shots! I managed to get a few and puttet them into the gallery.

About 24 hours later we were surfing Perfect points deep south in Mexico!
